Cookies and site technologies
This page describes what the delivered site actually stores. It does not contain a generic catalogue of possible advertising partners because no advertising or profiling trackers are included in the build.
AT A GLANCE
Before the detail
- No advertising, remarketing or profiling cookies are loaded by the delivered build.
- A technical session supports the consultation form.
- The cookie-banner button now stores a real preference and dismisses the notice.
- Adding non-essential analytics later would require a new consent review before those tools are enabled.
01 / NOTE
The two storage items used by the build
A technical cookie named “osint_session” is created when a PHP session is needed for the consultation form. Its purpose is to support the anti-CSRF token and form integrity. It is not used to follow the reader across unrelated sites.
When you press “Accept and close”, the browser stores “osint_cookie_choice=accepted” for up to 180 days and mirrors that choice in localStorage as a fallback. Its only purpose is to remember that the notice has already been acknowledged.
- osint_session — technical form session; session lifetime
- osint_cookie_choice — banner preference; up to 180 days
02 / NOTE
What “Accept” does — and what it does not do
The button performs a real action: it records the preference and removes the banner. It does not silently authorise future advertising technology.
Because this build does not load optional trackers, accepting the notice does not start Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or an ad network. If the technical setup changes, optional tools must not be treated as covered by this old choice.
03 / NOTE
Technical cookies and optional tracking are different things
Italian Data Protection Authority guidance distinguishes technologies needed to provide a service requested by the user from non-essential tracking. Technical cookies do not require the same prior consent as profiling tools, although their use should still be explained transparently.
That is why the current banner is an operational notice rather than a menu full of categories the site does not use.
04 / NOTE
What is not included
The delivered code does not include Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Hotjar, fingerprinting scripts, affiliate cookies or remarketing tags. Search terms are not turned into advertising audiences.
This description must be checked again after a technical integration. An embedded video, analytics product or support widget can change which third parties and storage technologies are involved.
05 / NOTE
Removing the preference
You can clear site data in your browser. Removing “osint_cookie_choice” or local data for the domain makes the banner appear again. Clearing the technical session may also require reloading the consultation form before it can be submitted.
Preferences are local to a browser and device; they are not synchronised between your phone and computer.
06 / NOTE
Official links do not load third-party portals inside the page
Public-source links are ordinary external links. The site does not embed authority pages in iframes, so merely reading a guide does not load those third-party portals.
Once you choose to open an official source, you enter that organisation’s domain and its own cookie and privacy rules apply.
07 / NOTE
When this page needs to change
This notice should be revised whenever a storage key, retention period, analytics integration, embedded third-party feature or form-session behaviour changes.
A useful cookie notice should track the browser’s real behaviour, not remain a permanent text copied from an earlier version of the site.
